On September 3, 2025 András Szecskay was awarded the The Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon Award by the Government of Japan at a ceremony held at the Japanese Embassy in Budapest, receiving the medal and certificate from Her Excellency Ambassador Hikariko Ono.
András Szecskay has been working as a legal advisor to the Japanese Embassy in Hungary for 37 years and has supported the deep relationship between the two countries in all areas of the embassy’s operation. He has now received the award in recognition of this significant contribution.
During the ceremony András Szecskay said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this distinguished award. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Ambassador Hikariko Ono and all current and former staff members of the Japanese Embassy for their trust and cooperation during the nearly 40 years of cooperation.”
